Food Review: Bosses Restaurant

After our visit to Madame Tussauds Singapore and Images of Singapore, we stopped by Bosses Restaurant (黑社会) for dim sum because we had long heard about the awesome food at Bosses and had never had the opportunity to try it before. It was just so coincidence that it happened to be the last day of promotion for 30% off all dim sum from 2.30 to 5.30pm due to Chinese New Year period, thus we decided to drop by Bosses.

The dim sum menu was pretty extensive with a lot of unique dishes and there were so much dishes we wanted to try but it was really unfortunate that we could not stuff so much food in our tummies :( Thus we could only pick and try those we really wanted to eat.

After looking at the menu for close to 20 minutes, we eliminated some of the dishes and tata~ presenting to you our dim sum of the day at Bosses!

Har Gau (Prawn Dumpling). The har gau came in big pieces of 4 and the har gau with the big prawn fillings were fresh and succulent. Instantly, two of them went into my mouth as soon as they arrived (and after photo taking of cause! :P)

Pan-fried Scallop Glutinous Rice Shumai - We were looking for siew mai and there were so many different types of siew mai on the menu. As this was indicated as a new item on the menu, we decided to give it a try! This siew mai was pan fried wrapped with glutinous rice and scallop was placed on top of the siew mai for an enhanced taste. It was a good dish for people who wanted to eat glutinous rice yet not too much and a change for something different.

Signature custard lava bun - The star of the menu :D I always loved custard lava bun and I did not manage to have it during my last dim sum visit to Tim Ho Wan as they do not have it in their menu. The skin of the steamed bun was in orangy yellow and the bun was so soft and fluffy, and full of flowy salted egg yolk! The greedy me had two of the buns! It is a must eat dish at Bosses!

Famous Chilli Crab Tart - A very special dish which I immediately wanted to order when I saw it on the menu. Who could have image the combination of chilli crab on tart? The tart was surprisingly crispy when bitten and not wet/moist from the chilli crab gravy. The chilli crab tarts had a distinctive flavour which you would not want to miss it!

Beancurd roll over the bridge - The beancurd roll was fried with the prawns in the wrapping and the taste was super good. The roll was crispy and yet not oily! :D

Our happy lunch! :D

I always love a good dim sum and I will be back again soon! :)
